Journey 2025

Growing Into Our Identity — The First Half of 2025 at Blank Coffee Roaster

The start of 2025 marked a new chapter for Blank Coffee Roaster — not just in how we looked, but in how we showed up for our community. We began the year with a full rebrand, moving away from our “home-made” logo (built on late nights and half-baked Canva, Illustrator, and Photoshop skills) and into something that truly reflected who we are and what we stand for.

A New Look With Purpose

We worked with a freelance designer to create illustrations and a visual identity that could grow with us. Having proper branding didn’t just make us look better — it gave us room to be more intentional, more consistent, and more aligned with our core mission.

Blank Coffee Roaster has always been about people first.
To us, coffee is more than just a drink — it’s a connector.

“Blank” represents the space between people:
the unspoken moments waiting to be shared, the connections waiting to happen.

Our mission is simple — let coffee fill in those blanks.

Finding a Home — Opening Our First Café

For months, people asked us the same question at pop-ups and events:
“Where can we go to drink your coffee?”

Up until that point, the only way to experience our brews was through our wholesale partners — and even then, it wasn’t fully our experience. Opening our first café wasn’t just a milestone; it was an anchor. A place where we could express our vision, connect with guests directly, and build a community around specialty coffee in Ipoh and beyond.

It didn’t just give us a home — it gave us a base to grow forward from.

Taking Coffee on the Road — Events & Catering Highlights

As the months went on, we found ourselves saying “yes” to more events — and each one shaped the way we approached coffee catering in Malaysia.

1. Intelsius at CPHI SEA — 400 Cups a Day, 3 Days Straight

Our first large-scale catering service happened at CPHI South East Asia in collaboration with Intelsius. We served 400 cups per day across a three-day pharmaceutical exhibition.

This event shifted our mindset. For the first time, it wasn’t about putting our brand front and center — it was about making someone else look good.

We took the time to understand basic pharmaceutical terminology so we could represent the company with confidence. One of the highlights? Showcasing their cold-chain storage solution to store our milk — a cooler that could maintain below 6°C for over 96 hours. Perfect for a three-day event.

2. Good Coffee Fest by Ghostbird — Lessons in Scale

Good Coffee Fest, hosted by Ghostbird Coffee Company, was our most overwhelming experience of the year — and in the best way.

We underestimated the crowd. On day one, we nearly sold out.
By the end of day two, we did run out.
We rushed back to Ipoh at night to roast more coffee, drove back to Ampang, and still sold out again on day three.

It taught us a lot about preparation, demand, and the appetite for specialty coffee in Malaysia.

3. Cynotex at ISPE — Taking It Further

Our third major activation brought us to ISPE (International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering), where we served 300 cups a day for another three-day event — this time for Cynotex.

With experience from the first event, we elevated things:

  • We made the booth interactive

  • We taught latte art to their team

  • We connected with new potential clients

  • And we made the brand we were representing look (and feel) even better

It wasn’t just coffee service — it was relationship building.

Looking Forward

From rebranding and opening our first café to serving thousands of cups across Malaysia, the first half of 2025 has been about clarity, identity, and momentum.

We now understand more than ever what makes Blank Coffee Roaster unique — and how coffee catering, community spaces, and shared experiences all tie back to our mission of connection.

And we’re just getting started.
